Give a break android.... of that kitkat bar
Google decided to switch it up on everyone this morning; or so it seems. Google has announced its latest version of the Android Operating System it came as a complete shocker to everyone as we all were anticipating the release of Key Lime Pie 5.0. But its not, the Latest OS will be KitKat 4.4.
For the first time Android OS has taken on an actual brand name of sweet treats. Up until now all versions took on generic dessert names. They are:
Android 1.5: Cupcake
Android 1.6: Donut
Android 2.0: Eclair
Android 2.2: Froyo
Android 2.3: Gingerbread
Android 3.0: Honeycomb
Android 4.0: Ice Cream Sandwich
Android 4.1: Jelly Bean
Android 4.2: Jelly Bean
Android 4.3: Jelly Bean
Android 4.4: KitKat
While we all were expecting KeyLimPie, what's amazing is how android kept the new code name a secret all this time. Apparently code name KLP was scrubbed at the end of 2012 because they believed very few people actually know how key lime pie taste. Then the suggestion of kitkat came because of the kitkats kept in the kitchen as coding snacks. The proposal was pitched to nestle and from there it was all a go. To keep it all a secret Google continued to use the code name KLP when dealing with manufactures and even disclosed the info from some of their own employees. Not until the statue was placed in front of head quarters did some employees find out. Very slick marketing from Android/Google.
