Microsoft is rolling out it's new tablet. While they're calling it new, It looks and feels pretty much the same.
The physical attributes of the tablet all remain the same. However it comes with more horsepower this time around. So here's whats new:
The Surface 2 and Surface Pro 2 is getting a nice upgrade to its processor. A NVIDIA Tegra 4 processor powers the Surface 2 and an Intel i5 Haswell processor that makes the Pro 2 almost 2x faster than most laptops on the market today.
I don't know why the first tablets didn't come full HD but the second series does. Both tablets are now in full 1080p HD. Which is of course an upgrade from its 780p predecessor.
Now, to address some of the issues that consumers had, Microsoft has given the second gen Surface some lean. With 2 positions in the built-in kickstand, you can now angle the tablet at an even lower slope for better viewing if you so choose. The other major fault folks had with the first Surface was its battery life. Simply put, it was horrible. The first gen tablet's battery hardly lasted 3 hours. Surface 2's battery has been completely upgraded and now is reported to last for 10 hours. Microsoft is advertising it as "Stronger. Longer."
To wrap it all in a nice bow, Microsoft has decided to throw in some goodies. For all those that purchase the Surface 2 ($499.00) or the Surface Pro 2 ($899.00), will receive 1 year free of unlimited voice calling to land lines in over 60 countries, and also free Skype WiFi at over 2 million hot spots around the world. On top of that, Microsoft is giving each of you, 200 GB of Sky Drive storage free of charge for 2 years. The tablets will be shipping worldwide on October 22nd but you can
pre-order yours today.
